Prancer
Prancer is a very special dog looking for a very special family. Prancer is a gorgeous 2-3 year old mixed breed that looks like a collie, lab and husky all rolled into one. He is medium-sized, weighing 42 pounds. Prancer just loves every person he meets! He's a beautiful dog with a sunny, sweet disposition. More often than not you will find him displaying his happy smile (see picture). He is extraordinary. What makes him so extraordinary? You see, Prancer has a hereditary condition called Collie Eye Anomaly that left him severely sight impaired from birth - but that doesn't stop him from being exuberant, happy and fun-loving. He adapts so rapidly and so well to new environments, you would never guess he had a vision problem!
Prancer has taken a special 8 week obedience program and is fluent in SIT, STAY and COME.
He has a lot of energy and is generally well behaved. He is not a chewer or digger, he gets along with other dogs and ignores cats. He likes long walks, running around the yard and playing with another dog. What he really loves is to be loved and petted, soaking up what he missed the first few years of his life. On quiet evenings, he will be happy to lay relaxed by your feet (or in your lap!). He has a good heart and just wants to be with his person all the time.
A quiet home with a patient, experienced dog owner who can devote time to Prancer's specialized training needs and provide a good deal of exercise to burn off that exuberant energy would be a perfect match. Though Prancer gets along with small children, they are not a good match because he tends to jump in his enthusiasm to greet people and loud, unexpected noises make him uneasy and distracted.
If you have room in your heart and home for this truly exceptional dog, you won't be disappointed.
He may not be full-sighted, but what he lacks in vision he makes up for in love.
Prancer's adoption fee of $175 includes: Vet exam, flea preventative, heartworm test, DAPP (distemper-parvo combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination and tag, deworming, microchip and neutering.
