Happy Tails

Sometime when our mission of caring for all the homeless, abused and neglected critters becomes overwhelming and we become disheartened by the enormity of it all, angered at the lack of public compassion, weary of the incessant phone calls from people wanting to dump their pets, dejected by apathetic and uncaring municipal leadership, and frustrated that we can’t do more, a note or card comes our way that helps lift our spirits and renew our resolve. This, folks, is why we do what we do – This is what makes it all worthwhile! We love hearing from you all, so keep those cards and letters coming! EVERY Happy Ending makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside, but we were especially teary-eyed when we got this letter from Maddie, one of the more disturbing situations that we had to deal with this year:

Louie Moll

Hello everyone. It’s me, Dasher! Thank you for doing everything possible to make sure I found a great new family and a loving home. Being rescued from a puppy mill last Christmas was a gift in itself, but now I have owners that really care about me and even a kitty brother and a kitty sister. My owners changed my name to Louie and we are all doing great. At first I was very scared and I didn't trust anyone new. But now I'm much better thanks to work done by my owners and even puppy classes. Before I was rescured I used to be inside all day but now I go for walks and long car rides (I like those the best)! I must say that even though my “mommy” picked me out I sure am a “daddy’s” boy. We do everything together! I even squeeze next to him everyday in his favorite chair.

Thanks again!
Louie Moll

Maddie

Hi! My name is Maddie and I just want to let everyone know what a lucky girl I am. When I was a puppy, I was locked in a suitcase and left next to a dumpster in an apartment complex! Lucky for me, my crying and whimpering eventually alerted a passerby to the fact that I needed help. I was rescued and brought to an animal hospital, where I was then turned over to Adopt-A-Pet. I sat in a cage at the hospital for almost 3 weeks because they didn’t have a foster home open for me to go to. At first I was scared because people had not been so nice to me in the past. But when I realized that everyone here was so kind, I was so excited to see people that sometimes I was quite a handful. So one day a nice lady came to see me and it was love at first sight for both of us! Once I was spayed and well enough to travel, my new Mommy brought me to my new home. Now I get to go for long walks, have treats and lots of toys, hugs and kisses. I have a yard to play in and I go to doggie school so I can learn to like other dogs better and be more obedient. My trainer says I am very easy to train because I am so smart and I learn very fast. I have a bunch of new friends and get lots of company. I have a whole new life, and I just want to thank Adopt-A-Pet for making this possible.

Very truly yours,
Miss Maddie
Happy at last!!!!

Boots

Dear Adopt-A-Pet,

Thank you for my little Boots! We just adore him. He has brought so much joy and laughter into our home. Every day he purrs a little more and loves to follow me around the house. He is the center of everyone’s attention and receives so much love from all of us. The first time he had complete roam of our home, he loved to run as fast as he could from room to room, playing and curious of everything. I bet he never had a chance to run free like that before. At night he likes to go from bed to bed and rub his face against ours and purr very loud ... then, he lays there for a while and goes to the next bedroom and does the same with the kids. We will love him forever!

Deuce

Dear Adopt-A-Pet,

I just wanted to drop you a note to say what a wonderful addition Deuce has been to our lives. Just before Thanksgiving of last year my husband and I were searching the net for a prospective pet and came across a beautiful animal. We were lucky enough to set up a meeting with Deuce and her foster mom almost immediately. After just one visit we knew it was right and brought her home. It has been a wonderful year full of fun, love and companionship with Deuce. She adjusted well to her new home and yard. Within days she had established her favorite place to sleep: in my papasan chair. It has become her and hers alone! Everyone who meets her states what a gorgeous dog she is. We look forward to many years with her as a part of our family.

With Many Thanks,
Beth and Peter

Snoopy

To all of my four-legged friends:

Hi guys! This is Snoopy, remember me? I was adopted a little while ago by a really nice family. They really love me, and I love them too. Although I miss you guys, I’m really happy. My new home has everything: my own bed, food, potty, and lots of toys. My new house has lots of rooms to play in, and I have my “stuff” in every room. My new family likes to play with me, cuddle with me, and take lots of pictures of me. (I like the cuddling and playing, but the pictures have to stop!) I hope that each of you can find a family that loves you as much as my family loves their Snoopy. Then you’ll be as happy as me.

Love,
Snoopy
